Lebanon Reservoir Campground is now managed by the second generation of the Hartshorn family. Carolyn Hartshorn at age 92 remains active and lives on the property during the summer but the responsibility for the daily operations now lie with son Truman, and his sisters Mary Karen, Louise, and Lois. Mary Karen’s son, Alan, also helps with the office and camp store on weekends.
Truman Hartshorn, now retired from the Department of Geography at Georgia State University in Atlanta, spends full time at the Campground during the operating season along with sister Mary Karen. Lois lives year round on the property and keeps busy with a full time career in Norwich, service on the Council for the Town of Lebanon, and is always busy at the Campground. Louise works full time in Rochester but can be found at Lebanon Reservoir every weekend during the summer.
Truman serves on the Board of Directors of the Campground Owners of New York (CONY) association and on the Board of Directors of the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC). Locally he serves on the Cabinet of Freedom of the National Abolition Hall of Fame and Museum (NAHOF&M) in Peterboro. He is a member of the Canal Society of New York State, and several national geography and planning organizations.
